All applicants must submit the following documents on or before May 15th, 2019.

  1. A cover letter that contains the following information:
    • Your name, address and phone number
    • The name of the sponsoring member and his/her relationship to you
    • The name of the school you most recently attended, including the last year of attendance
    • The name of the college, university or program you expect to attend and that you will enroll in
    • A brief explanation of how the scholarship funds are to be used
    • The major you will pursue
    • A description of any honors or awards you may have received or any area of school life that has had a significant influence on you, or both
    • A copy of your most recent grade report
  2. You must also submit an essay of at least 4 paragraphs discussing an Irish historical, cultural or artistic topic that is of special interest to you or an essay that speaks about your personal Irish heritage that has affected you..

Full application is due on or before May 15th, 2019.
Any applications received after May 15th, 2019 will not be reviewed.

Scholarship recipients will be notified by the Scholarship Chair in June 2019 and announced in the newsletter.
Awards shall take place at our July membership meeting.

2019 Colleen Scholarships

The 2019 Colleen Scholarships will be honored at the Dinner dance on Friday March 8th!

Criteria for Cape Cod St. Patrick’s Parade Colleen Pageant:

  1. Must be a female high school senior with plans for continued education in an accredited program.
  2. Must be of Irish descent. (Lineage described in cover letter or with essay)
  3. Must maintain, at least, a B average. (Attach transcript)
  4. List school activities, community activities, and work experience.
  5. Must be a resident of a town on Cape Cod.
  6. Must be available for a pre-pageant interview (time & place to be determined), the Grand Marshal’s Ball / Colleen Coronation scheduled for Friday, March 8, 2019 at 6 PM, and the Cape Cod St. Patrick’s Parade on Saturday, March 9, 2019.
  7. Must submit completed application with one letter of reference from a high school teacher, a member of the clergy or community/civic department leader and an essay describing what your Irish heritage means to you.

  8. Must submit a photograph, photos of the 4 winners will be featured on the Parade website and Facebook pages.

The Scholarships are:
Colleen Winner (“Queen”) will receive a $1,000.00 scholarship; three runner-up Colleen Court winners will each receive a $500.00 scholarship.

SOECC 2017 Scholarship Winners

The SOECC 2017 Scholarship checks were awarded to these recipients:

Siobhan Hemeon-McMahon was sponsored by her father John HemeonMcMahon.
Siobhan currently attends Lesley University as a Clinical Psychology major. Siobhan plans to use the scholarship funds towards a study abroad semester in Ireland.

Daniel Lavelle was sponsored by his grandparents Michael and Eileen Lavelle. Daniel was the Valedictorian of his graduating class at Georgetown High School. Daniel will begin pursuing an engineering degree at Notre Dame University in September.

Michelle Healy was sponsored by her father PJ Healy. Michelle is a recent graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth High School. She is headed to UMass Amherst in the Fall. Michelle plans to major in Biology on a Pre-Med track in hopes of entering Physician's Assistant School.
